MM450 Reviews still comin’ in…

As some of you may know I grew up racing motocross. I spent every moment of every day living, breathing, and dreaming motocross. As I got a little older, 2 plates, 4 screws, 2 titanium rods, 2 bone grafts, and 1 wheelchair later…it has occurred to me that while motocross is an amazing sport, it can be slightly hard on the body and perhaps not quite as safe as R/C racing. What a wonderful world we would live in if only there were some way to combine the thrill of motocross with safety, fun, and excitement of R/C.
Late last week we received a package in the mail. As I began to open it I realized my dreams had come true…inside this box was a little motocross miracle! Under all the bubble wrap and packing peanuts was the all-new Atomik R/C Metal Mulisha Brian Deegan MM450 1/4 scale dirtbike!

Great review of the Metal Mulisha MM450 RC DirtBike on RC Driver

Shortly after reading the October 2012 Issue of RC Driver I headed down to my local HobbyTown USA in Centennial, Colorado to see what I needed for my latest project.  When I walked through the door, one of the employees told me they had just gotten in the new Atomik RC Brian Deegan MM 450 Dirt Bike, the same bike that Paul Onorato had review on page 60 of the latest issue of RC Driver.  We proceeded to talk and they offered to let me take the bike for a spin.  I admit I was a bit timid at first, I have had other RC motorcycles in the past and I have broken my fair share of parts trying to perform the delicate balancing act of trying to keep the bike up on two wheels.  At the same time I also had flashbacks of the magazine article and Paul indicating that with a little practice driving the bike became easier and that even with some horrific wrecks the bike stood up to the abuse, so I said “let’s do it!”

Atomik Metal Mulisha MM450 at Hangtown MX Outdoor Season Opener

Sacramento, CA – 5/17-5/19 2012

Atomik was in attendance to see and be seen at the season opener of the Lucas Oil Outdoor Pro Motorcross Championship Series. We brought out the new Brian Deegan Metal Mulisha MM450 radio control dirt bike equipped with the gravity defying new E-Gyro Electronic Stabilization System to demonstrate it to the public and media at the event.

The action packed event is held in the beautiful rolling countryside track 30min east of old town Sacramento known as Hangtown. The local motorcycle club called “the Dirt Diggers” hosted the annual event for a crowd of more than 40 thousand spectators packed shoulder-to-shoulder on the hillsides surrounding the track. The track boasts some huge hill climbs and high-speed descents through a variety of obstacles like whoops and jumps, while snaking around the valley course. Lap times are typically in the 2-minute range for most classes and a race is set to go 30 minutes plus 2 additional laps. There are 2 moto’s and the average of your finish in each race will determine your overall finish.

This is a GIANT step in the world of RC.

The first time I drove the new bike, my jaw hit the floor. I have been into RC toys for about 20 years and this new MM 450 made me feel like I was 10 all over again.

We took our VMX 450 and made it even more fun to drive and more capable.

I have received several calls from loyal Venom/Atomik fans worried that their VMX will be outdated and they will no longer be able to get parts. This new MM 450 is based off the same platform as the VMX. Almost every part is interchangeable with the exception of the rear wheel electric gyro. This new electric gyro is what dreams are made of. Our design team made sure that we could upgrade all existing VMX RC Dirtbikes.

This means that by ordering a few parts from Atomik you can transform your old mechanical gyro into a faster, more efficient electric gyro.
